It is tempting to liken the little girl and cigarettes with two future horror from the early twentieth century that are new and good World by Aldous Huxley and 1984 by George Orwell. In both of these books are the elements of spirit of the times ýktir bit, sharpened the ideas that were expressed only live and practice of political ideas as a large percentage of people had said yes unquestioningly.
The ideas that Huxley was the interest from the agricultural policy, technical planning and standards of comfort while Orwell was the politicization of society, centralization and dictatorship. His life seems fairly safe and stable in life until he is found not to smoke inside the toilet at work. That startling to all of this is what the story is realistic - it lacks rats almost nothing that this could all happen.
