BACKGROUND: mens health Spasticity is commonly experienced by people mens health with multiple sclerosis (MS), and contributes to disability in general this població.Una wide variety of non-pharmacological interventions used singly or pharmacological agents for the treatment of spasticity in MS. evidence of its effectiveness has not yet been determined.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effectiveness mens health of non-pharmacological interventions for the treatment of spasticity in adults with multiple sclerosis. SEARCH STRATEGY: A literature search was conducted through mens health the Specialized Register of the Cochrane Multiple Sclerosis mens health and Rare Diseases mens health Review Group of the Central Nervous System using the Cochrane MS Group trials, among other sources, contains CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, LILACS, Stone, June 2012.Búsqueda mens health manually detect pertinent journals mens health and reference lists of identified studies and reviews were carried out. Also reviewed abstracts published in conference proceedings.
Selection criteria: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) reported no drug treatment / s for the treatment of spasticity in adults mens health with multiple sclerosis and compared them with some type of control intervention (such as sham / placebo interventions or less than, or different types of intervention minimal intervention, waiting list controls or no treatment, interventions given in different contexts), were included.
Data collection and analysis: Three reviewers mens health independently selected studies, extracted data and assessed methodological quality using the degrees of Recommendation Assessment Tool, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) for synthesis the best evidence. A meta-analysis was not possible due to methodological heterogeneity, clinical and statistical studies included.
Main results: Nine RCTs (N = 341 participants, 301 included in the analysis) investigated various types and intensities of non-pharmacological interventions for the treatment of spasticity in adults with multiple sclerosis. These interventions include: physical activity programs (eg physiotherapy, exercise program structured climbing), transcranial magnetic stimulation mens health (Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (ITB), repetitive transcranial magnetic mens health stimulation (rTMS)) electromagnetic therapy (pulsed electromagnetic therapy, magnetic pulse device), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and whole body vibration (VCE). All studies were rated as "low" in the assessment of methodological quality that carries a high risk of bias. There is evidence of "low level" of physical activity programs used in isolation or in combination with other interventions mens health (pharmacological or non-pharmacological), and repetitive mens health magnetic stimulation (ITB / rTMS) with or without adjuvant therapy exercise improving spasticity in adults with multiple sclerosis. No evidence of benefit exists to support the use of TENS, climbing and vibration therapy for the treatment of spasticity in this population.
"Authors 'conclusions There is no' evidence of low level" of non-pharmacological interventions such as physical activity determined in conjunction with other interventions and for magnetic stimulation mens health and electromagnetic therapy mens health beneficial effects on the results of the spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis. A wide variety of non-pharmacological interventions used to treat spasticity in MS, but more trials are needed to build solid evidence on these interventions. PMID 23450612 [PubMed - Medline]

The Kinesio tape (KT) is an elastic therapeutic tape used for treating athletic injuries and a variety of other disorders. The chiropractor, Dr.. Kens Kase, developed techniques to bandage KT 70. Stated that KT supports injured muscles and joints and helps release the pain by lifting the skin and help improve blood flow and lymphatic. KT's fame grew after he gave a tape to 58 countries that could use it during the 2008 Olympics, and was seen in high-performance athletes. Professionals are wondering whether they should use the KT instead of other elastic adhesive bandages.
The aim of this review was to evaluate, coeur using meta-analysis, the effectiveness of KT in the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. The electronic databases include SPORTDiscus, Scopus, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect and sports medicine websites where he can search with the words "kinesio taping / tape '.
97 articles, ten met the inclusion criteria (article presented data on the effect of KT on the musculoskeletal apparatus and had group) and were selected for the meta-analysis. Inference figures were used to assess the clinical value of the studies coeur reported positive results.
Studies supported musculoskeletal outcomes in healthy participants were included on the basis that these results may have implications in the prevention of sports injuries.
There are inconsistent results on range of motion, with only two small beneficial results observed in both studies, but trivial results in two other studies with numerous joint action.
There is a possible benefit for vigilance in relation to correct the error in the sense of grip strength ("grip force without error"), but without positive results proprioception of the ankle.
Seven results could be beneficial with regard to strength, although there were numerous trivial findings on the maximum power point and isquiocrurals quadriceps and grip strength measurements.
In conclusion, there is little evidence supporting the use of KT over other types of elastic bandages in the treatment or prevention coeur of sports injuries. coeur KT may have a small beneficial role in improving the strength and range of motion in certain cohorts with injuries coeur and error correction of the direction of force ("force without error") compared with other dressings, but more studies are needed coeur to confirm these findings.
The number of case studies and anecdotal support to KT require well-designed experimental research, particularly that related to sports injuries, so that professionals can be sure that it is beneficial to athletes.

From the classroom libraries to virtual libraries
This last decade has seen a complete transformation of hospital wil wheaton libraries. In the late 80s, the arrival of the CD-Rom was the first step towards wil wheaton the democratization of information. The arrival of the 90's and the internet was a new and important change: wil wheaton the birth of what we understand as a model of the hybrid library, where she lived the paper and electronic. This has come to facilitate wil wheaton access wil wheaton to scientific information and free access initiatives wil wheaton important documentary resources arise. wil wheaton His best example is found in Medline and PubMed creating the portal for free access wil wheaton provided by the NLM.
However, the big change model comes with the beginning of the century and the development of the library in a virtual environment. To understand wil wheaton these changes, it is important to examine all the developments in this environment. The large publishing groups adapt to the new virtual model, wil wheaton electronic publications begin to develop independent from traditional print formats, wil wheaton large databases become more friendly and you begin to link the citation to the sites of publishers, resources arise aid in decision-making (Uptodate, Finisterre ...) and virtual services from libraries begin to develop.
A BV is to emulate a classroom library, trying to provide the resources and services of traditional libraries. wil wheaton It is structured on a web-based technology that allows you to organize and manage information resources in electronic format and facilitates user to interact with virtual any collection of magazines, books and other resources amicably platform. Complemented with documentaries and virtual library services, wil wheaton such as document retrieval (SOD), literature searches, ask a librarian ..., ie all services provided through wil wheaton the Web application.
As expected, these platforms in a remote user authentication Health System is required for access wil wheaton to the contracted resources. These systems must be provided so that the user only has to log in once per session (LDAP, Papi, OpenAthens ...). The platform must wear a resolver connected links (OpenURL, as SFX) to provide the user, so agile and quick, all that BV has to read the full text of resources. Such access may be from databases, from the magazines own headquarters or from the catalog. Access can be made from any computer, either within the institution or outside it.
What services do you offer? Document Delivery Service (SOD) or, alternatively, request items not available in the collection of the BV. This service is completely transparent to the user, once it detects that the item is not in the BV, a petition with publication data and generate wil wheaton their own. Literature search on any topic of interest. Ask the library: a virtual wil wheaton reference service where users can submit queries and requests wil wheaton for information on the Internet. User training wil wheaton through guides, tutorials, videos, e-learning ...
Other functions performed by electronic resources are sorted by subject areas, making groups of eBooks in catalog-and produce bibliographies on a specific topic ...
These platforms must become new areas of knowledge management, where the user is integrated sources of information you need, access to the full text of documents and virtual services. Must be a friendly environment, with immediate answers to your questions, which you can access from any computer connected to the Internet, either from the workplace or from home.
Future policies of BV go through integration into these platforms for knowledge management with the information and knowledge generated by the Organization. This process wil wheaton requires the development of a thematic repository of health sciences, where you can deposit all digital items: articles, ebooks, reports, reports, clinical guidelines, protocols, patient information, drug information ... This system must integrate with electronic medical records, where the healthcare professional can solve any doubt or uncertainty that confronts him. This connection will be done through wil wheaton what is known of infobuttons, a link that will link the electronic medical record and knowledge base available on the platform. wil wheaton
